The Helsinki Music Centre summer concerts are an oasis in a heat wave or in case of an occasional rain shower. Welcome to the Helsinki Music Centre Concert Hall between 17 June and 6 August 2013. On Mondays and Tuesdays, you will hear Kumina Music’s Tessa Virta on the piano and Olli Peuhu on the double bass, as well as other Finnish front-row artists. From Wednesdays to Fridays, future stars from the Sibelius Academy will take over the stage. The concerts will start at 1.00 p.m. and last for about 45 minutes. Tickets are available at Lippupalvelu and at the Helsinki Music Centre ticket office. Concerts arranged by Kumina will feature top entertainers with classics from Jean Sibelius to Oskar Merikanto. They will take you from the fabulous world of the opera to lush evergreens and jazz standards. Arvostettu laulaja, runoilija ja taiteilija Patti Smith saapuu konsertoimaan Suomeen heinäkuussa. Punkin kummitätinäkin tunnettu Patti Smith yhtyeineen esiintyy sunnuntaina 9. heinäkuuta Helsingissä. Vuonna 1975 julkaistu klassikkoalbumi ”Horses” nosti Patti Smithin New Yorkin alakulttuureista kasvaneen punk-liikkeen kuningattareksi. Tavattuaan kitaristi Lenny Kayen Patti Smith onnistui yhdistämään ajattoman runouden rock´n´rolliin luoden samalla sukupolvensa tunnetuimpia hittejä, kuten ”Gloria” sekä yhdessä Bruce Springsteenin kanssa kirjoitetun ”Because The Night”. Patti Smith vetäytyi julkisuudesta vuonna 1980 ”Radio Ethiopia”, ”Easter” ja ”Wave” -albumien jälkeen avioiduttuaan MC5-bändistäkin tunnetun Fred ”Sonic” Smithin kanssa. Paluualbumi ”Gone Again” (1996) esitteli maailmalle kuitenkin jälleen vahvan artistin, joka on toiminut esikuvana sukupolvelle toisensa jälkeen.
