Event description

In her fifth post-graduate recital, clarinettist Anne Elisabeth Piirainen explores clarinet music from Russia, from the former Soviet Union and by composers who fled the Soviet Union. The programme covers a wide range of ensembles and eras: it even includes a rarely heard instrument, the theremin. Most of the works have never been performed in Finland before. In a special Finnish connection, Piirainen and friend perform the Clarinet Sonata of Vladimir Agopov, an Armenian-born composer who is now resident in Finland and teaches at the Sibelius Academy.
