The KUOHU concert takes the listener through the course of human life
KUOHU (engl. SURGE) is a concert about the tempestuous surges of human lives, surges that form the coast line of life like great waters – slowly but steadily. Surges that hit the cliff and seem at that moment bigger than the power of great waters.

The Haloa choir, founded in the spring of 2018, gives its debut concert at the Music Centre in November. The singers of the choir are mostly current or former students of the Department of Music Education at the Sibelius Academy.

The concert is the world première of 13 new choir pieces, composed and written by the Music Education students and alumni themselves. The pieces portray different tempests of the human life. Love, joy, disappointment, fear and hope are in the air. Composer Matthew Whittall has been helping and mentoring the composers in the arranging of the pieces. The conductor of the concert is Anna Karjula, artistic director of Haloa.
