Event description

Eija Kankaanranta, the Kokkola Quartet, Camilla Hoitenga and Assi Karttunen reflect on the Finnish mental landscape through universal tones. The composers, works and performers represent Finnish art abroad and international art in Finland. The colourful works of Pehr Henrik Nordgren, Kaija Saariaho, Maija Hynninen, Aulis Sallinen and Pekka Jalkanen spanning four decades were inspired by Finnish, Japanese and Greek musical traditions. The kantele is an instrument firmly rooted in tradition, but in recent decades it has been making inroads in contemporary music too.
