”Eikä ne värssyt viellä oo lopus” – New sleigh songs and urban tales
Folk music and world music
Audiences are captivated by Ilo Ensemble’s warm sound and charming manner of performing. The roots of the ensemble reach deep into folk music, theatre music, improvisation and light music. Active since spring 2012, the ensemble use various voice control methods, and the richness of its sound takes the listeners from ancient Ingrian forests to the land of the Andes. In the concert ”Eikä ne värssyt viellä oo lopus” (Verse are still with us), Ilo Ensemble embark on an exploration of what kind of sleigh song lyrics and compositions arise from the hectic life of today’s Helsinki. The ensemble find inspiration from the spontaneous singing moments of the 19th century and expand the old sleigh song tradition into the present day.
